Scranton native Kathleen Kane faces the gravest threat yet to her capacity as state attorney-general. The Senate is set to consider whether to authorize Gov. Tom Wolf to remove her from office in the wake of her current legal and political troubles. As expected, Kane has threatened to unleash a prosecutorial firestorm on her tormentors (who apparently occupy every top-level nook and cranny of state government) and reveal the pervasiveness of the ongoing scandal involving racist and pornographic emails.
Given that she does not currently hold a law license (where else but Pennsylvania would the top lawyer not be a lawyer?), there’s some question over whether she actually has the power to do any of this. As has been the case ever since this train started wrecking almost two years ago, we’ll just have to stay tuned.
